inn march
back to innformed

Wow! March already!!! It’s hard to believe we’re nearly a ¼ of the way through the year, and even harder to believe it is nearly time to change the clocks when the snow is falling outside The Inn.

Like last year though, we are so far fortunate to have missed the horrendous weather that they are experiencing in England. For us, bursts of blue sky, soft snow showers, snowy peaks a roaring fire and oh yes,…..the joy of beating England last weekend in the 6 Nations Rugby. Whoo hooo!

This sort of weather draws out our regular climbers and walkers, and it is always a pleasure to see them here, warming up from the winter chill, enjoying a pint, and eating well.

On the subject of food, I am delighted to tell you that our Chefs continue to create fantastic dishes and we continue to source the best local suppliers we can find to ensure the highest quality on your plate at sensible prices.

We have amazing new fish dishes, and are expanding our menu to provide you with an opportunity to enjoy great fish, direct from Scottish waters. More often than not, we can even tell you the name of the boat that caught it, and where it was landed.

Over the last couple of weeks we have started to enjoy amazing Scottish Lythe Fillets. I is a beautiful fish, similar to Cod, but with a lot more flavour, in our opinion. This lands at Scrabster on the North Coast and is delivered fresh to our door. It is delicious pan fried gently, and served on Lyonnaise potatoes, with seasonal vegetables and light lemon and herb butter.

It is also a pleasure to add some wonderful Rare breed pork to the menu, especially roasted for Sunday lunch with giant Yorkshire Puddings, goose-fat roast potatoes, fresh vegetables and real, home-made gravy. It’s pork as it used to be – rich, and full of flavour with crackling like you’ve never had before!

Easter is soon to be with us, and we look forward to sharing it with so many friends and guests coming for Sunday lunch. Whether you celebrate Easter or not, at The Inn it is all about a gathering of people with like minds, a love of food, good music and great company. Why not book a table and join us? It would be great to see you.
